Pick Up & Drop Off at Burnaby Central

How to Get Here Safely

We encourage students to walk to school, cycle, or use transit whenever possible.

No matter how you travel to school, remember:

the Warning bell on Regular Bell Schedule days rings at 8:35 am — Classes begin at 8:40 am

All students should arrive at school by 8:25 am

This provides time to go to lockers, obtain necessary materials and be seated in class by 8:40 am

Drivers:

Staff and students with parking privileges can use the designated parking lot at the North East end of Campus.  Starting in FALL 2019, there is NO STUDENT DROP-OFF permitted in parking lots.

Parent/Guardians, if you must drive your student to school, please drop them off at the new Drop off zones DURING SCHOOL OPERATING HOURS (8:00am – 3:30pm) (green on the map):

While many students may prefer to be dropped off in the parking lot/entrance to Campus off of Deer Lake Parkway, please be advised that a number of issues have arisen from doing so- most importantly the safety of students and staff, both in and out of the building, as well as other drivers.  Please select another drop-off location if at all possible to ensure the safety of all students.

Please Note:

We also ask parents to not enter the staff and student parking lot as it creates dangerous conditions for students trying to get to classes. The laneway in front of the school is also a fire lane and needs to remain clear at all times.

Your cooperation will help keep all students safe and help your child arrive to classes on time.

Walkers:

To reach campus, there are crossing signals at

  • Deer Lake Parkway / Canada Way
  • Deer Lake Parkway / City Hall Entrance
  • Deer Lake Parkway / Deer Lake Ave & Gilpin St

Once on campus, please be alert for cars in the parking lots and use marked pathways and crosswalks. Keep the volume on your headphones low enough that you can still hear cars/bikes approach.

Transit Riders:

Our school is on or close to several major bus routes including the 110, 123, 133, 144.  If you are taking Skytrain, it is easiest to reach campus by bus from either the 110 or 144 from the Metrotown Skytrain Stop.

You can plan the best route to and from school over on TransLink’s website or in Google Maps. If you are on a sports team, and are transiting to/from another district school, please see our Athletic Website tab “Directions to…”.

*REMINDER*

Students using the bus stop Eastbound Canada Way @ Deer Lake Parkway (Stop ID: 51398) need to remember to use the cross walk and not jaywalk across Deer Lake Parkway- as it is a very busy street, and we have had some injuries.
