Welcome to modern languages at Burnaby Central Secondary. The study of language has always been an integral part of a good education and is vital in the globalized world of employment. Most of our language teachers speak two (and even more than two) languages and come with a wealth of knowledge about studying, living and working abroad.  A second language helps you develop cultural awareness and understanding.  We hope you will acquire these important skills before leaving Central.

We study languages for many reasons. When we asked current students and alumni from Buranby Central why they study languages, they gave us many good reasons. Learning languages at Central is fun and engaging, you have the opportunity to be creative with projects, music and films and languages open doors to studying and working abroad.
